The American Hockey League trade/loan deadline came and went Friday and one deal has some scratching their heads.
The Boston Bruins loaned Curtis Hall to the Grand Rapids Griffins while the Detroit Red Wings assigned Jared McIsaac to the Providence Bruins. Officially, when it comes to the NHL, that’s what this transaction is. The Bruins retain the rights to Hall while the Wings retain the rights to McIsaac.
With Parker Wotherspoon already sticking in Boston, this signals that Mason Lohrei would very likely be sticking with the big club as well and Providence was in need of a left shot defender.
McIsaac had been playing in Switzerland for about a month until his team was eliminated from the play-in round, thus the reassignment.
McIsaac was the Wings second-round pick in 2018 and has appeared in 156 AHL games over 4 seasons totaling 9 goals and 43 assists.
Hall was the Bruins fourth-round pick in 2018 and appeared in 113 AHL games scoring 10 goals and 6 assists. He had 11 goals and 9 assists with the Maine Mariners in the ECHL this season.
