The Boston Bruins are progressing through their training camp, while the Providence Bruins start theirs this week. In Europe, hockey leagues are already in action, and so are the CHL and USHL in North America. The NCAA is also gearing up to begin its season this week.
So, what is there to talk about?
Josh Bell, the Director of Video Scouting for McKeen’s Hockey joined us for a live stream on Dom-Hockey The Podcast to discuss Bruins prospects and McKeen’s rankings. You can watch the episode in its entirety below.
And, there was some hockey played.
Loke Johansson returned to the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL last week after his time with the Bruins. Over the weekend, he participated in two games and appeared to be getting more comfortable with the North American style of play. He demonstrated solid defensive skills while logging significant minutes as a top-four defenseman. For Johansson, the focus is not on scoring but rather on developing his defensive abilities and adapting to the North American ice.
Jonathan Morello recently made his debut in the USHL, playing three games over the past two weeks. He has scored a goal and provided an assist, showing his skills on both offense and defense. When I initially shared my season projections, I mentioned that Morello could exceed expectations. Although it’s just been three games, it appears that he is on track to do just that.
Kristian Kostadinski has shown flashes of skill, but there are also signs that indicate he will require time to develop. He is adjusting to the North American style of play, and I view him as a long-term project. Since his first appearance at the Bruins development camp two years ago, he has made noticeable strides in his skating, yet there is still more improvement needed.
Cole Spicer appeared in the first game for Dubuque in the USHL and has not played since.
Jonathan Myrenberg has missed the first three games of the season with Linkoping HC of the SHL due to injury.
