Casper Nassen
Things just keep getting worse for Miami. On Friday, they dropped their seventh in a row by a score of 3-0 to Omaha. They have just one win in their last 11 games. Nassen was a minus-1 and had a game high 4 SOG in the loss.
If you thought things could not get any worse, make it 8 in a row following a blowout loss to the same Omaha team Saturday, this time by a score of 8-1. Miami needs to do something to right the ship before they lose the season. They are off this week so they have some extra time to work on things.
Dans Locmelis
U-Mass defeated Harvard 5-3 on Friday. Locmelis had a goal and an assist, was good on the dot winning 14 of 25 faceoffs and had 2 SOG with 19:24 TOI. His goal was the GWG and came on the powerplay.
Things didn’t go as well on Sunday as Vermont pulled out a 3-2 win over U-Mass. Locmelis had an assist in the game with 1 SOG and was 12-12 in the faceoff circle.
Oskar Jellvik, Andre Gasseau, Dean Letourneau
On Tuesday night, Boston College squeezed past Providence College 3-2 in overtime in a game that was broadcast nationally in Canada and the US. Jellvik, who was playing in just his second game following an injury did not look like himself and looks to be battling through whatever injury it was. He had 16:53 TOI with 1 SOG and was a minus 1. Gasseau was particularly strong defensively and had some excellent backchecks. He failed to hit the scoresheet and did not have a shot on goal in 20:30 TOI. He was 4 for 7 on the dot. Letourneau was moved back to the middle and had a couple of great chances. One specific one was in the second period where he couldn’t get a good handle on the puck and sent it right across the goalmouth. He had 1 SOG and was 2 for 7 on the dot and a minus 1 with 11:04 TOI. You can read about Philip Svedeback below.
On Friday they blanked Northeastern by a score of 3-0. Andre Gasseau scored his sixth of the season in typical Gasseau fashion and on his only SOG in 15:34 TOI. He was a plus-1 and was 2 for 4 on the dot although he played mostly on the wing. Jellvik, who has been back on the wing since returning from injury assisted on Gasseau’s goal. He had 16:24 TOI with 2 SOG and was also a plus-1. Letourneau played 10:16 with 1 SOG.
Northeastern took the rematch Saturday by a score of 4-2. Gasseau returned the favor to Jellvik from Friday night by setting him up for a typical Jellvik goal. It was Jellvik’s second on the season and only SOG in the game. He finished a minus-1 in 20:54 TOI. Gasseau was also a minus-1 with 1 SOG and 21:299 TOI while going 2 for 10 on the dot. There is some good chemistry with this pair and are at there best when playing together. Letourneau had zeroes across the board and was 3 for 7 on the dot with 8:38 TOI.
Jake Schmaltz
It took overtime on Friday, but North Dakota defeated Robert Morris 4-3 and moved up to 6-6-0 on the season. Schmaltz assisted on UND’s first two goals of the game, his fifth and sixth of the season. He moved up to center the third line in this one and was 20 for 29 on the dot with 5 SOG. Easily his best game of the season.
North Dakota skated to a 1-0 win in the rematch on Saturday. Schmaltz was once again on the third line and while he did not register a point in the rematch, he was 13 for 15 on the dot and had 2 SOG in 16:32 TOI.
Beckett Hendrickson
Friday saw another win for Minnesota as they improved to 11-2-0 with a 6-3 win over Notre Dame. Hendrickson did not register a point and was a minus-1 with 11:12 TOI. Points are not coming easy for Hendrickson who was moved to the fourth line, but I like how his game is coming along.
Minnesota defeated Notre Dame again Saturday, this time 5-3. Hendrickson remains snake bitten but he is getting opportunities. Playing on the 4th line, he had 2 SOG with 14:12 TOI.
Ty Gallagher
After winning their first 9 games of the season, Colorado College is 0-2-1 in their last 3 games after losing 3-2 to St Cloud State on Friday. The feel-good story for Gallagher continued as he scored his third of the season with 3 SOG. He leads CC in scoring with 10 points in 11 games as a defenceman.
The two teams needed overtime Saturday and CC came out on top 1-0. Gallagher did not register a point and led all players with 5 SOG and 22:32 TOI.
Chris Pelosi, Elliott Groenewold
On Friday Quinnipiac defeated Cornell 3-1 as the two teams try to remain above .500. Pelosi scored his second of the season, the game winner and first in 8 games. It was his only SOG and he finished a plus-1 with 18:31 TOI. He went 5 for 11 on the dot. Groenewold was a minus-1 and saw his ice time drop a tad to 18:24.
Ryan Walsh
As you saw above, Cornell dropped a 3-1 decision to Quinnipiac. Walsh was a minus-2 and 9 for 19 on the dot with 20:41 TOI, second among Cornell forwards. He had 1 SOG and failed to register a point while centering the top line.
Cornell rebounded with a 5-0 win over Princeton on Saturday. Walsh scored his 4th goal of the season. He had 3 SOG and was a plus-1 and 15 for 21 on the dot while leading all Cornell forwards with 17:35 TOI, which was also his lowest time on ice this season. Walsh leads his team with 7 points in 8 games.
Mason Langenbrunner
Harvard dropped a 5-3 decision to U-Mass on Friday. For a defenceman who scored goals in each of his last two games, Langenbrunner played just 1:47 as the 7th defenceman. Not much else to say.
Jonathan Myrenberg
I can confirm that Myrenberg has not yet begun skating. His rehab was described to me as slow but good. The Bruins have maintained a level of communication.
Loke Johansson
The CHL’s number 1 ranked Moncton Wildcats dropped to number 2 this week after being surpassed by the London Knights. They took to the ice Wednesday against the Quebec Remparts and skated away with a 7-4 victory. It was a back-and-forth affair until Moncton responded with 3 unanswered goals in the third period. It was not a good night for Johansson. He was a minus-3 with no shots on goal with 21:02 TOI.
On Thursday, Moncton got off to a 3-0 lead and then ran out of gas as Chicoutimi scored 6 unanswered goals enroute to a 6-3 victory. Moncton looked like a tired team playing on back-to-back nights. Johansson had 5 SOG and finished with an even plus/minus in the loss.
Moncton defeated Baie-Comeau 5-3 o Saturday. Johansson was a plus-3 with 2 SOG. He had an assist after a strong defensive play he made with the opposition goaltender pulled led to an empty net goal.
Kristian Kostadinski, Jonathan Morello, Cole Spicer
Dubuque needed overtime but they skated past Cedar Rapids 4-3 on Friday. Kostadinski had zeros straight across the board and a rare no shots on goal. Morello broke out of a mini 4 game pointless draught with an assist while Cole Spicer also went pointless as he works his way back into shape.
Dubuque fell 5-4 to Des Moines on Saturday despite outshooting them 34-23 and outplaying them. Kostadinski was pointless and a minus-2 in a disappointing game for him. Morello was unable to capitalize with 4 SOG. Spicer is looking better and better after his absence due to injury and had a helper and a game high 5 SOG.
Philip Svedeback
As mentioned earlier, Providence College fell 3-2 in overtime to Boston College on Tuesday night. I think this was Svedeback’s best game of the season so far. He stopped 36 of 39 shots he faced and was in complete control of his movements and he saw the puck well all night. It took a special player to beat him with the tying goal with under 4 minutes remaining and then the winner with under a minute remaining. And you couldn’t fault him on either.
Providence then defeated Long Island 4-3 in overtime on Saturday in a non-conference game. Svedeback stopped 23 of 26 shots he faced and needed a goal to force overtime with him on the bench for an extra attacker. I don’t think PC got the goaltending they deserved in this one as they outshot Long Island 38-26. Svedeback has definitely been better than he was on this night.

Head Coach Ryan Mougenel wasn’t exactly thrilled at practice Thursday following a 3-game losing streak as you can see from a Mark Divver post on X.
The trip down I-95 continued on Friday as the parent club returned Georgii Merkulov back to Providence while summoning Marc McLaughlin, who could become a Group 6 unrestricted free agent at the end of the season unless he plays in a total of 80 career NHL games. At the time of his callup, he had appeared in 14. Riding a 5-game goal scoring streak, McLaughlin has earned the opportunity.
It was all Brandon Bussi as he stopped all 30 shots faced Friday to lead Providence to a 3-0 victory over Lehigh Valley. He was particularly his best in the second and third periods defending a 2-0 lead as Lehigh outshot Providence 21-10 in the final two frames attempting to make a comeback. Fabian Lysell and Frederic Brunet scored their second goals of the season while Tyler Pitlick added his fifth into an empty net. Matthew Poitras had two helpers.
Providence defeated Lehigh Valley 2-1 in a game that went into overtime on Saturday. After falling behind 1-0, Riley Tufte scored his fourth goal of the season to tie the game just under four minutes into the second period. The score remained the same until 55 seconds into overtime, when Ian Mitchell saw Merkulov about to fly the zone. Merkulov skated toward Parker Gahagen unchallenged and scored a beautiful goal, sealing the victory. Michael DiPietro made 22 saves out of 23 shots, improving his record to 6-2-2 for the season.
Here’s a look at the Providence Bruins leaders. You will notice a column called “Benchrates” This is provided by our friends at Benchrates. Created by a retired hockey player, Benchrates has created an algorithm that computes values in real time. The value you see is the cap hit value they’ve earned this season to date. Give them a look and check out their site.

Chris Pelosi has 1G and 1A in his last 4 games following a 5-game pointless streak.

WHO’S COLD:
Elliott Groenewold in pointless in 3 games following a stretch of 2G and 2A in 4 games.
Loke Johansson has just 1A in his last 6 games, but his strength is in his ability to defend.
