To start you off, there is a very good read on Frederic Brunet by Gayle Troiani of NESN.
Casper Nassen
Miami (Ohio) just can not buy a win dropping their 17th consecutive game on Friday, this time by a score of 7-1 to Arizona State. Nassen did not factor in on Miami’s only goal. He had 3 SOG and was a minus-2 in the contest.
Another game against Arizona on Saturday is another loss for Miami, this time by a score of 4-1. And it was zeroes across the board for Casper Nassen.
Dans Locmelis
UMass defeated Merrimack Friday 4-2. Locmelis did not register a point in the win, had 1 SOG and was 4 for 9 on the dot with 20:11 TOI.
In a Sunday afternoon matchup, it was UMass versus Maine it was UMass versus Maine with the Black Bears coming out on top by a score of 3-2. Locmelis did not register a point, was a minus-1 with a game high 6 SOG.
Oskar Jellvik, Andre Gasseau, Dean Letourneau
Boston College improved to 19-4-1 after blanking UMass-Lowell 4-0 on Friday. Gasseau set up Ryan Leonard’s second goal of the game while Jellvik set up his third in the victory. Jellvik finished a plus-2 and without a SOG while Gasseau finished a plus-2 with 4 SOG. Jellvik had 15:56 TOI and Gasseau 16:32. Letourneau had 1 SOG and was 2 for 4 on the dot with 11:26 TOI.
Jake Schmaltz
Officially, North Dakota and St Cloud State skated to a 3-3 tie, however St Cloud did win the meaningless shootout. In a rare moment, Schmaltz played on the second line but as the left wing but still took draws going 5 for 12. He was a minus-1 with 2 SOG and did not register a point.
In the rematch on Saturday, North Dakota won 6-2. Schmaltz once again skated on the left-wing spot on the second line although he took some of the faceoffs going 6 for 15. He did not register a point nor a SOG in 15:50 TOI.
Beckett Hendrickson
Hendrickson returned to action after missing a game last week and Minnesota defeated Wisconsin 5-2 on Friday to improve to 20-6-3 on the season. Hendrickson did not register a point and had 1 SOG in the victory.
Minnesota defeated Wisconsin again Saturday, this time by a score of 4-1. Hendrickson was pointless and only played 8:43 in the game.
Ty Gallagher
Colorado College dropped to .500 with a 4-1 loss to Western Michigan Friday. Gallagher recording his team leading 14th assist of the season on Colorado’s lone goal.
It took overtime but Colorado College came out on top in the rematch Saturday by a score of 3-2. Gallagher did not factor in on any of the goals, was a plus-1 with 1 SOG and had a game high 24:35 TOI.
Chris Pelosi, Elliott Groenewold
It took overtime but Quinnipiac skated past Dartmouth 5-4 on Friday. Pelosi did not register a point, had 3 SOG and was a plus-a with 19:29 TOI. Groenewold also did not register a point, was a plus-1 with 2 SOG and had 20:14 TOI.
Ryan Walsh
Cornell faced off against St Lawrence a little short handed on Friday, missing 5 players due to suspension and another due to injury. Cornell skated with 9 forwards and 8 defencemen. They also fell short on the scoreboard by a score of 2-1. Walsh did not factor in on Cornell’s only goal. As expected, he saw a lot of ice with 24:14 TOI. He had 1 SOG and was 18 for 26 on the dot.
Cornell and Clarkson battled to a 3-3 tie on Saturday although Cornell did win the shootout. Walsh did not register a point, was a minus-1 with 4 SOG and 25:54 TOI. He is on his longest pointless streak of the season at 3 games.
Mason Langenbrunner
Harvard dropped a 4-3 decision to Princeton in overtime on Friday. Langenbrunner finished a minus-1 with 3 SOG and 20:41 TOI, third among Harvard blueliners.
Jonathan Myrenberg
It was another devastating loss for Linkoping on Tuesday. A 3-2 loss to Lulea dropped them out of the top 12 in the SHL standings and into the relegation territory with just 14 games remaining. The good news is that it looks like Myrenberg is rounding into form. He played 22:08 and was up about 7 minutes over his first couple of games. He transitioned from defence to offence well and was solid defensively. It’s a step in the right direction.
On Friday Linkoping got back on track by defeating Orebro 2-1 and move out of the relegation spot and just 2 points out of a playoff spot. Myrenberg is still looking for his first point of the season and had 16:58 TOI with 1 SOG and 1 blocked shot. He continues to work his way back and while he has yet to reach last season’s level of play, he is progressing very well.
On Saturday, Linkoping fell 2-1 to Rogle. Myrenberg did not factor in on Linkoping’s only goal. He played 16:16 and has 1 SOG with 2 hots and 2 blocks. With only 12 games remaining on the season, time is running out for Linkoping. The return of Myrenberg hasn’t resulted in wins but he has helped reduce their goals against and helped them in transition and getting out of their end. They will need more to get out of the relegation round.
Loke Johansson
The CHL’s number 4 ranked Moncton Wildcats defeated the Cape Breton Eagles 6-3 on Thursday and maintained a comfortable 7-point lead in the QMJHL overall standings. Johansson did not factor in on the scoring for Moncton. He was a plus-3 with 1 SOG and 3 hits in just over 20 minutes TOI.
On Saturday, Moncton blanked Cape Breton 3-0. Despite not putting up any points, this was one of Johansson’s better games on the season. He was moving his feet, a defensive force and not shy about being physical. He’s come a long way since his first exhibition game in North America.
Kristian Kostadinski, Jonathan Morello, Cole Spicer
Dubuque got past Fargo on Friday by a score of 5-4. Kristian Kostadinski scored his third of the season late in the second period. He finished a plus-1 with 1 SOG. Cole Spicer had two assists, including on the game winner and finished a plus-1. Jonathan Morello did not register a point, had 1 SOG and was a minus-1.
It wasn’t pretty on Saturday as Dubuque got blown out by Lincoln 6-1. Spicer had the lone goal for Dubuque. There is just nothing good to say about this one.
Philip Svedeback
Officially, Providence College and Connecticut battled to a 3-3 tie on Friday though Connecticut won the shootout in the 8th round. Svedeback stopped 39 of 42 shots including a penalty shot and he had an assist on the first goal of the game. He stopped 6 of 8 shots in the shootout.
With Saturday’s game being an afternoon match, Svedeback did not play.

Providence Bruins
Providence went into Cleveland on Friday and won the opener of a back-to-back by a score of 4-2. Patrick Brown opened the scoring after Riley Tufte retrieved a puck behind the goal line and fed it in front to Brown for the tap in. After Cleveland tied it, Tufte would score his 12th of the season from John Farinacci to put Providence back out in front. Cleveland would tie it up once again and Ian Mitchell would score his third of the season to put Providence up to stay on the powerplay. Brown and Georgii Merkulov would draw the assists. Brown would seal it with the empty netter from Tyler Pitlick with 24 seconds remaining. Michael DiPietro continues to roll right along stopping 27 of 29 shots for the win.
On Saturday things started out well for Providence as Joey Abate banged home a rebound off a Marc McLaughlin shot just 50 seconds into the game. About half way through the period Max Jones made it 2-0 from the right circle on the power play from Frederic Brunet and Tufte. That’s all the offence Providence could muster and Cleveland completed the comeback for a 3-2 win. Brandon Bussi stopped 30 of 33 shots in the loss.
Here’s a look at the Providence Bruins leaders. You will notice a column called “Benchrates” This is provided by our friends at Benchrates. Created by a retired hockey player, Benchrates has created an algorithm that computes values in real time. The value you see is the cap hit value they’ve earned this season to date. Give them a look and check out their site.
