Casper Nassen
Miami (Ohio) had the week off although one could say they’ve been off since October 26, 2024 – their last win on the season.
Dans Locmelis
UMass got past Connecticut 5-4 on Friday and improved to 15-11-2 on the season. Locmelis scored the second of 4 straight goals by UMass and erased a 3-2 Connecticut lead by scoring his 6th goal of the season. Locmelis took a pass in the high slot, skated to the top of the left circle and ripped home the tying goal. He finished a minus-1 with 4 SOG and 6 for 14 on the dot with 18:27 TOI.
Oskar Jellvik, Andre Gasseau, Dean Letourneau
Boston College took care of business in their first game of the Beanpot held at TD Garden last Monday. BC thumped Northeastern by a score of 8-2. Andre Gasseau scored his 9th of the season, was a plus-5 with 2 SOG and 16:30 TOI. Oskar Jellvik had an assist and was a plus-2 with 1 SOG and 11:33 TOI. Jellvik did not come out for the third period. Dean Letourneau played what was probably his best game of the season to date. While he did not register a point, he was a plus-1 with 5 SOG and a season high 13:04 TOI.
Jellvik sat out Friday’s game against New Hampshire, a 4-2 win, with an injury that keeps reoccurring. Gasseau, who centered the top line at times, was pointless with 3 SOG and 3 for 9 at the dot with 19:38 TOI. Dean Letourneau was a plus-1 and 7 for 9 at the dot with 8:54 TOI.
Jake Schmaltz
North Dakota faced off against Ty Gallagher and Colorado College on Friday, losing 6-4 and dropping their record to 13-11-2. Schmaltz, playing left wing again, was pointless and was 4 for 11 on the dot with 1 SOG.
North Dakota won the rematch on Saturday by a score of 3-1. Schmaltz did not register a point, had 1 SOG and was a plus-1 with 12 PIM and 6 for 13 on the draw. Schmaltz got into a tussle with Gleb Veremyev (future Bruins) and was given a roughing penalty and 10 minutes unsportsmanlike conduct with a minute remaining.
Beckett Hendrickson
Minnesota was off last week.
Ty Gallagher
As mentioned above, Colorado College defeated North Dakota 6-4 on Friday and improved to 14-12-1. Gallagher had a goal (empty netter) and an assist (game winning goal) and was a plus-3 with 1 SOG in the win. His goal was no doubt a fluke. Gallagher was battling along the boards and ND tried to send the puck back to the point but missed and found the back of their net. Gallagher being the last CC player to touch the puck was given credit for the goal.
Gallagher did not register a point in the rematch, was a minus-2 with 1 SOG.
Chris Pelosi, Elliott Groenewold
Quinnipiac improved to 17-8-2 with a 6-1 thrashing of St Lawrence on Friday. Groenewold set up the game’s opening goal just 1:08 into the game. Groenewold sent a perfect shot/pass from the left boards for an easy deflection. Just under 3 and a half minutes later, Pelosi went in on a short breakaway and scored. He was the only one in the arena that knew it was in the net. Play continued on for a while and it was reviewed and determined the puck did go in for the GWG. Pelosi added an assist in the third period. He finished a plus-5 with 3 SOG and 2 for 7 on the dot with 18:34 TOI. Groenewold was a plus-3 with 3 SOG and 19:03 TOI.
On Saturday, Clarkson defeated Quinnipiac 3-2 in overtime. Down 1-0, Pelosi picked up the puck on the right boards, skated over the blueline and ripped a missile through the defenceman and found twine for his 9th goal of the season. He finished with 4 SOG and was 6 for 8 on the dot. Groenewold was a minus-1 and did not have a SOG.
Ryan Walsh
Cornell defeated RPI by a score of 4-2 on Friday to improve to 9-7-6 on the season. Walsh had zeroes across the board and was 8 for 15 on the dot with 20:26 TOI. The sophomore is on his coldest streak of the season going pointless in 4 games, yet he still leads Cornell in scoring.
On Saturday, Cornell fell to Union by a score of 4-1. Walsh’s pointless streak reached 5 games but it wasn’t for lack of trying. He had 6 shots on net to lead all skaters and was 10 for 22 at the dot with 20:57 TOI.
Mason Langenbrunner
Harvard took part in the Beanpot on Monday at TD Garden in Boston and for lack of a better term, it was a thrashing by BU, handing Harvard a 7-1 loss. For Langenbrunner, he played 19:46 in the contest and was a minus-2 with 1 SOG.
Harvard dropped to 7-13-2 following a 3-2 loss to Dartmouth on Friday. Langenbrunner did not register a point and was a minus-1 with 2 SOG. Although Dartmouth’s GWG wasn’t on the powerplay, Langenbrunner had just exited the box prior to the goal.
Jonathan Myrenberg
Linkoping had the week off.
Loke Johansson
It took a shootout for Moncton to get by Cape Breton on Friday by a score of 3-2. Trailing 1-0, Johansson scored his third of the season and he received the puck at the left point, did a small stutter step and wristed a shot towards goal that went off a defender and found the back of the net.
Despite losing 5-3 to Charlottetown on Saturday, the Moncton Wildcats officially clinched a playoff spot in the QMJHL. Johansson had zeroes straight across the board in the loss.
Kristian Kostadinski, Jonathan Morello, Cole Spicer
On Wednesday, Dubuque faced off against Cedar Rapids at home and came away with a 3-1 victory. Kostadinski had zeroes across the board except for a 2-minute kneeing penalty late in the first period. Morello did not register a point and had 2 SOG. Spicer had an assist on the GWG. He was taken out of the play on the end boards but worked his way back to the front of the net to get his stick on a shot for a deflection which was stopped. But the rebound went to a teammate for the easy tap in goal.
On Friday, Dubuque squeezed by Waterloo 3-2. Kostadinski did not register a point. Ditto for Morello. Spicer, who is beginning to sizzle had a goal and an assist in the victory. The goal came on the powerplay on a tic-tac-toe play where Spicer was setting up shop in front of the net. The pass came across to him in front of the crease and he was able to drop to one knew and tap it home for his third goal of the season.
On Saturday, Madison squeezed by Dubuque 4-3. All three prospects were kept off the score sheet in the loss.
Philip Svedeback
Officially it was a 3-3 tie Friday as Providence Collage and Maine went to a shootout with the Black Bears taking it. Svedeback stopped 27 of 30 shots he faced and then 3 of 4 In the shootout.
It was a goaltender’s battle on Saturday as Maine needed overtime to squeeze out a 1-0 victory. Svedeback stopped 19 of 20 shots in the loss but his counterpart at the other end was just a little bit better stopping all 28 shots he faced.

Providence Bruins
It took some last-minute heroics but the Providence Bruins were able to skate away with a 3-2 victory over Springfield in a shoot out Friday. Providence got out to a 1-0 lead when Jeffrey Viel found Tyler Pitlick heading towards the net and sent a perfect pass to Pitlick for an easy tap in goal. Patrick Brown had the second assist. Springfield would get the next two when a rebound came out to Max Jones in the right circle and ripped in on short side to tie the game with 3:55 remaining. John Farinacci and Fabian Lysell would draw the assists. Overtime would solve nothing and Vinni Lettieri would score the only goal of the shootout for the win. Brandon Bussi stopped 25 of 27 shots he faced.
On Saturday, Providence dropped a 5-2 decision to Springfield. Things started off well as Frederic Brunet kept the puck alive at the offensive blueline to Farinacci who found Max Jones going down the left side. Jones made a perfect shot/pass to Tufte who banked it in for his 14th of the season. Springfield would score the next three to take a 3-1 lead until Lettieri picked up the puck behind the net, wrapped around the goal and lifted a beautiful backhander to pull within one. Springfield would get that one back and then score an empty netter to secure the win. Michael DiPietro stopped 21 of 25 shots for the loss.
Here’s a look at the Providence Bruins leaders. You will notice a column called “Benchrates” This is provided by our friends at Benchrates. Created by a retired hockey player, Benchrates has created an algorithm that computes values in real time. The value you see is the cap hit value they’ve earned this season to date. Give them a look and check out their site.
