On Saturday, Linkoping suffered a loss they could ill afford, dropping a 3-2 decision to Frolunda on Saturday. With the loss, they dropped to 7 points out of a playoff spot with 7 games remaining. More importantly, it left them just 2 points up on Modo to try and avoid playing in the relegation round and being demoted to the Allsvenskan for next season. Myrenberg did not factor in on the scoring and was a minus-1 with 1 hit and 15:07 TOI.
Loke Johansson
It took sone late game heroics and an empty net goal for Moncton to get past Halifax 3-1 on holiday Monday. A goal with 2:14 remaining put Moncton in the win column in a game they dominated territorially with Halifax managing just 17 shots on net. Loke Johansson did not factor in on the scoring but played a very solid if unspectacular defensive game. He managed 2 SOG and was a plus-1.
On Friday, Moncton had a relatively easy time blanking Cape Breton 6-0. Johansson was pointless in the victory and was a plus-2 with 1 SOG.
It was a massive blowout Sunday as Moncton defeated Victoriaville 10-1. Surprisingly, Johansson did not register a point and was a plus-1 with 1 SOG.

Morello was also pointless and did not register a SOG. Cole Spicer had a goal and an assist. Down 3-1, Spicer received a pass down at the goal line and fed a on-touch pass to the slot for a one-timer goal. After the NTDP regained the 2-goal lead, Spicer won an offensive zone draw and went straight to the net and battled to get a second chance opportunity for the goal. But that’s as close as Dubuque would come.
For the second time in two nights Dubuque fell to the USNTDP squad by the same 4-3 score, this time in a shootout. Kostadinski had zeroes right across the board in the loss. Morello had an assist and was a plus-1 with 1 SOG while Spicer also had an assist and was a plus-1 with 1 SOG. Spicer also missed his shootout opportunity that went 7 rounds.

Providence took care of business Friday with a 4-2 victory over the Utica Comets, led by Ian Mitchell and his GWG and two assists and Michael DiPietro, who stopped 22 of 24 shots. Providence got on the board first when Vinni Lettieri split the Utica defense and went in alone putting a shot under the goalie’s arm. Fabian Lysell and Frederic Brunet would assist. Utica would score the next two but late in the second while on the powerplay, Mitchell slid a pass to Patrick Brown who fired it past the goaltender’s blocker. Brett Harrison would draw the second assist. Early in the third and again on the powerplay, Mitchell fired a shot past the goaltender to put Providence up 3-2. Lettieri and Jeffrey Viel would assist. Tyler Pitlick would score into the empty net to seal the victory.

Things did not start off well Sunday as Providence fell behind 3-0 before the period was 5 minutes old. Billy Sweezey scored his first of the season to get them back into it but the Penguins would get that back before the first period would end. Michael DiPietro, who stopped 39 of 43 shots in the game then shut the door. Jeffrey Viel would bring them within two with a wrap around goal halfway through the second. Max Jones would score his first of two on the night and the period would end with Providence trailing by on. About halfway through the third, Jones would tie the game and force overtime where Georgii Merkulov would win it with .7 seconds remaining. Brown, Brunet and John Farinacci would each post 2 assists.
Here’s a look at the Providence Bruins leaders. You will notice a column called “Benchrates” This is provided by our friends at Benchrates. Created by a retired hockey player, Benchrates has created an algorithm that computes values in real time. The value you see is the cap hit value they’ve earned this season to date.
