The Hockey East Quarterfinal took place on Saturday and Boston College was stunned by Northeastern 3-1. Oskar Jellvik is still out with an injury while Andre Gasseau and Dean Letourneau couldn’t muster much on offence. It marked an end to Gasseau’s 7 game point streak in which he scored 6 goals and added 7 assists.
BC will now wait for the NCAA Tournament.
Jake Schmaltz
North Dakota defeated Omaha 3-2 in the opening game of the NCHC Quarterfinals on Friday night. Schmaltz had an assist on a beautiful no-look pass to even the score 1-1. He had 1 SOG while going 6 for 14 on the dot with 16:34 TOI.

North Dakota now faces Western Michigan on Friday.
Beckett Hendrickson
Having been eliminated from the BIG-10 playoffs, Minnesota awaits the NCAA Tournament.
Ty Gallagher
While we are cheering for Colorado College, we have to call Friday’s opening game of the NCHC Quarterfinals for what it is: An upset. CC defeated defending champions in Denver 3-1 on Friday. Down 1-0, Ty Gallagher tied it with a one-timer from the left circle on the powerplay. He finished a plus-1 with 3 SOG and a team high 24:12 TOI.
On Saturday, CC got off to a good start but Denver took over in the second period and skated to a 6-3 win. Gallagher did not register a point on Saturday and was a minus-1 with 2 SOG and a team high 21:22 TOI.
It wasn’t close on Sunday as Denver pounded CC 9-2 in Gallagher’s 150th NCAA game. Gallagher scored twice and was a plus-1 with 6 SOG. Now we wait to see if he signs with the Bruins.
Chris Pelosi, Elliott Groenewold
Quinnipiac won the opener of the ECAC Quarterfinals by a score of 4-1 over Brown. Groenewold had the secondary assist on the game winning goal while Pelosi potted an empty netter to clinch the win. Groenewold finished a plus-2 with 1 SOG and led Quinnipiac with 24:39 TOI. Pelosi was a plus-1 with 2 SOG and 6 for 16 on the dot with 20:30 TOI.
They swept the series with a 4-0 win on Saturday. Pelosi was a plus-1 with 2 SOG and 6 for 11 on the dot with 17:16 TOI. Groenewold had a pair of assists, was a plus-2 with 2 SOG and a team high 22:01 TOI.
Quinnipiac will face Cornell on Friday in the ECAC Semifinal.
Ryan Walsh
Game 1 of the ECAC Quarterfinals went Friday night and Cornell skated to a 4-1 victory. Walsh did not register a point, had 2 SOG and was 9 for 15 on the dot with 21:58 TOI, which was 3:52 more than any other Cornell forward.
Cornell took game 2 and the series with a 3-0 blanking on Saturday. Walsh was again pointless, finished a plus-2 with 1 SOG and led all forwards with 20:55 TOI while also going 7 for 16 on the dot.
Cornell will now face Quinnipiac Friday in the ECAC Semifinals.
Mason Langenbrunner
Harvard lost their opening game of the ECAC Quarterfinals to Clarkson by a score of 3-2. Langenbrunner was pointless, finished a plus-1 and had 2 SOG in 16:49 TOI.
Harvard bounced back Saturday with a 3-2 overtime victory to even the series. Down 2-1, it was Langenbrunner’s one-timer off a rebound that evened things up and forced overtime. Langenbrunner had 2 SOG and 17:00 TOI in the win.
On Sunday it went to overtime once again, but this time Clarkson came out on top 2-1 and thus ending the season for Langenbrunner.
Jonathan Myrenberg
Loke Johansson
The Moncton Wildcats just keep piling up the wins and they added another on Thursday night as they blanked Cape Breton 3-0. Loke Johansson did not manage a pint but did have 3 SOG and 3 hits.
Moncton just keeps on rolling after an 8-0 win over the Saint John Sea Dogs on Saturday. It was the 8th time this season they have scored 7 or more goals in a game. Johansson did not factor in the scoring on this night. He finished a plus-1 with 2 SOG and 2 hits on the night.
Another day, another win by Moncton who took care of business with a 6-2 win over Acadie-Bathurst on Sunday. Johansson did not have any points and was a plus-2.
Kristian Kostadinski, Jonathan Morello, Cole Spicer
Dubuque defeated Des Moines Friday by a score of 5-3. Down 3-1, all three prospects played a role in the comeback as Morello assisted on the tying goal, Spicer on the go-ahead goal and Kostadinski in the insurance goal. Kostadinski was a plus-3, Morello a plus-2 with 2 SOG and Spicer was an even plus-minus with 2 SOG.
Dubuque squeaked out a 2-1 win over Waterloo on Saturday. Morello, who has been on a role with a 7-game point streak (2 goals, 8 assists) had the game winning goal. Spicer had the secondary assist on Dubuque’s first goal. Kostadinski was ejected at the 14:19 mark of the first period after receiving a 5-minute major for head contact.
Will Zellers
Green Bay lost 5-4 in a shootout to the Chicago Steel on Saturday. Zellers scored his 39th goal of the season in the second period that tied the game 3-3. Just don’t let this guy have open ice and get into a shooting position.
Philip Svedeback
Providence College was eliminated from the Hockey East playoffs following a 3-1 loss to Connecticut on Friday. Svedeback stopped 26 of 28 shots he faced in the loss. Providence will still make the NCAA tournament.

Providence Bruins
The Providence Bruins were in my backyard Wednesday facing off against the Toronto Marlies but couldn’t pull out the victory as Toronto skated to a 4-2 win. Fabian Lysell put Providence up 1-0 as Matthew Poitras sent a cross-ice pass to Lysell who went in alone for the goal. The Marlies would score the next two before Frederic Brunet scored to tie it from the point after he and Riley Tufte exchanged passes. Poitras would draw the second assist. Michael DiPietro stopped 23 of 26 shots for just his 7th regulation loss of the season.
Providence fell short against the Rochester Americans Friday, losing 4-3 in a shootout. Jeffrey Viel scored the first two goals for Providence and it looked like they were on their way. Rochester would tie it before Oliver Wahlstrom would put the P-Bruins out in front again. Rochester would tie it 3-3 once again. Overtime would solve nothing and the Americans would take it in the shootout. Tyler Pitlick and new comer Jake Gaudet would have a pair of assists each while Georgii Merkulov and Poitras added singles. Brandon Bussi stopped 40 of 43 shots through regulation and overtime.
On Sunday it was the Fraser Minten show as he recorded a natural hattrick and assisted on the goal by Riley Duran. He also had 6 shots on goal, as many as any two Bruins combined. What makes it even better is he had the opportunity for a couple of more points. DiPietro stopped 24 of 25 shots for the win!
Here’s a look at the Providence Bruins leaders. You will notice a column called “Benchrates” This is provided by our friends at Benchrates. Created by a retired hockey player, Benchrates has created an algorithm that computes values in real time. The value you see is the cap hit value they’ve earned this season to date. Give them a look and check out their site.

I enjoy reading your weekly updates on prospects Dom. I am curious to get your take on the top 10 list post the trade deadline. Seems like Zellers and Minten both jump into the top 5. Pelosi has really come on as well and should at a minimum make the top 10.
