Oskar Jellvik, Andre Gasseau, Dean Letourneau

Boston College awaits the NCAA Tournament where they will face Bentley in the Manchester Regional on Friday.

Jake Schmaltz

For North Dakota, there season came to an end following a 4-2 loss to Western Michigan in the NCHC semifinal on Friday. For Jake Schmaltz, that means his college career came to an end. He finishes the season with 6 goals and 10 assists in 38 games. The Bruins now have to decide on whether to offer him a contract. They could sign him to an ATO to finish out the remainder of this season with the Providence Bruins and delay the decision on an NHL contract to see how he fits into the system.

Beckett Hendrickson

Minnesota awaits the NCAA Tournament where they will face UMass in the Fargo Regional on Thursday.

Chris Pelosi, Elliott Groenewold

Quinnipiac fell 3-2 in overtime against Cornell on Friday in an ECAC semifinal matchup. Things were tied 1-1 with 5:18 remaining in the third period when Pelosi put Quinnipiac out in front 2-1. Cornell would tie it with a shorthanded goal with 1:39 remaining before winning it in overtime. Pelosi finished with a goal on 2 SOG, an even plus/minus and was 5 for 17 on the dot with 23:40 TOI. Groenewold was pointless and a plus-1 with 27:13 TOI. Quinnipiac will now wait for the NCAA Tournament.

Quinnipiac awaits the NCAA Tournament where they will face UConn in the Allentown Regional on Friday.

Ryan Walsh

As you just finished reading, Cornell defeated Quinnipiac on Friday and will go for the ECAC Championship Saturday. Ryan Walsh had a pair of helpers in this one. The first came on the game’s opening goal and the last came on the overtime winner! He finished the game with 2 assists, a game high 6 SOG and went 14 for 26 on the dot with 25:20 TOI.

On Sunday they faced Clarkson for all the marbles and came out on top 3-1 and capturing the ECAC Championship in consecutive years. Walsh scored the empty net goal with 1:49 remaining on a controversial goal to clinch the win and the title. He finished the game a plus-1, had a game high 5 SOG and led Cornell forwards with 19:12 TOI while going 6 for 15 on the dot.

Cornell advances to the NCAA Tournament where they will face Michigan State in Toledo on Friday.

Loke Johansson

The Moncton Wildcats began the final weekend of the QMJHL season with a 7-2 win over the Halifax Mooseheads, their 14th straight victory. Johansson finished with an assist, was a plus 3 and had 3 SOG in the win.

It was a barn burner to close out the regular season as Moncton and Acadie-Bathurst went back-and-forth. But Moncton came out on top 6-5 in overtime. Johansson was pointless and had 2 SOG to close out the season with 4 goals, 18 assists and a plus-46 (fifth in the league) in 62 games. Must be noted that the top five players in the QMJHL in plus/minus are from the Moncton Wildcats.

Moncton will face Quebec in the opening round of the playoffs beginning at home March 28 and 29.

Kristian Kostadinski, Jonathan Morello, Cole Spicer

Dubuque dropped a 3-1 decision to Madison on Thursday. Kostadinski, who was ejected for a hit to the head in his last game, did not receive a suspension. He had zeroes across the board. Morello saw his 7-game point streak (2 goals, 8 assists) come to an end. He was a plus-1 with 3 SOG. Spicer was pointless and a minus-2 with 2 SOG.

On Saturday, Dubuque couldn’t generate much against Waterloo and lost 7-3. Kostadinski was pointless and had 1 SOG and was a minus-2. Morello was also kept off the scoresheet and had 2 SOG and was also a minus-2. Spicer had an assist, 2 SOG and was a minus-3.

On Sunday they dropped their third straight, once again to Madison, by a score of 5-3. Kostadinski was pointless with 2 SOG and finished a minus-2. Morello also had 2 SOG and finished with an even plus/minus. Spicer had an assist, also had 2 SOG and was a minus-1.

Will Zellers

Green Bay fell 6-3 to Muskegon on Friday. Zellers had an assist, 3 SOG and was a minus-1 in the loss.

Zellers became the 15th USHL player in past 25 years to hit the 40-goal mark and doing it faster than anyone not named Macklin Celebrini or Derek Roy on Saturday. Unfortunately for Green Bay, they lost by the same 6-3 score to the same Muskegon team.

The two teams met for the third time in three days on Sunday and the result was pretty much the same: a 6-1 win by Muskegon. The only bright spot for Green Bay on this afternoon was Zellers scoring his 41st of the season and increasing his point streak to 5 games on 4 goals and 2 assists.

Philip Svedeback

Providence College awaits the NCAA Tournament and will face Denver in the Manchester Regional on Friday.

Providence Bruins

The Baby Bruins potted a season high with 10 goals Friday as they romped Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 10-2. Jeffrey Viel led the way with 2 goals and 2 assists, Matthew Poitras had a goal and 2 assists, Oliver Wahlstrom had 3 assists, Jake Gaudet had 2 goals and an assist, Frederic Brunet had a goal and an assist, Georgii Merkulov had a goal and an assist… heck too many to mention but we have to mention Ty Gallagher scoring his first professional goal in his first professional game. Brandon Bussi was great stopping 42 of 44 shots.

Poitras scored twice while Brett Harrison scored the GWG on Saturday as Providence skated past Leigh Valley 3-1. Wahlstrom, Brunet, Max Wanner and Chris Ortiz had assists. Michael DiPietro stopped 28 of 29 shots for the win. Poitras has 12 points in 8 consecutive games played.

Here’s a look at the Providence Bruins leaders. You will notice a column called “Benchrates” This is provided by our friends at Benchrates. Created by a retired hockey player, Benchrates has created an algorithm that computes values in real time. The value you see is the cap hit value they’ve earned this season to date. Give them a look and check out their site.
