July 15 – Qualifying offers expire unless extended by the team in writing. The team maintains rights to the player even though the offer expires.
July 20-Aug. 4 – Salary arbitration hearings held
August 6 – Deadline for salary arbitration decisions to be rendered

Teams that have one or more players file for arbitration are awarded a second buyout window whether the contract is settled beforehand or arbitration is awarded. That window is open for 48 hours beginning three days after the settlement or award. Only contracts with an AAV of $4 million or more can be bought out in this second window and the player must have been on the team’s roster on the previous trade deadline day.
