Casper Nassen
Miami suffered its third consecutive loss on Friday, falling 3-2 in overtime to St. Cloud State. This marked the third straight game where Casper Nassen did not score any points. He had one shot on goal and played for 17 minutes and 33 seconds. Miami has not won any game in which Nassen did not contribute scoring.
Miami faced another defeat against St. Cloud on Saturday, losing 3-1. Nassen had another game without a point, contributing to the team’s ongoing struggle. While it isn’t solely Nassen’s responsibility for Miami’s performance, his involvement is crucial for the team’s success. In 17 minutes and 10 seconds of ice time, Nassen recorded a minus-1 rating and had no shots on goal.
Dans Locmelis
Although the game officially ended in a tie, Vermont won against U-Mass 4-3 in a shootout on Friday. Locmelis had a faceoff record of 6 wins and 7 losses, a minus-1 rating, and no shots on goal in 16 minutes and 15 seconds of ice time. He had a chance to tie the score in the shootout but missed his shot.
In Saturday’s match, Vermont defeated U-Mass 4-0. Locmelis did not score any points in this game. He recorded three shots on goal, had a plus/minus rating of minus-2, won 11 out of 17 faceoffs, and played for 19 minutes and 42 seconds.
Oskar Jellvik, Andre Gasseau, Dean Letourneau
Boston College improved its record to 6-1-1 with a 3-2 victory over previously unbeaten Maine on Friday. After trailing 2-0, Gasseau scored BC’s first goal of the game, marking his second goal this season. Just over six minutes later, Letourneau assisted in tying the game. Gasseau recorded three shots on goal but had a minus-1 rating, spending 18:23 TOI. Letourneau had two shots on goal, ended with a plus-1 rating, and played for 13:34 TOI. Oskar Jellvik did not play. This was THE game of the season so far.
BC faced Maine again on Sunday and the entertainment value was still there as BC blanked them 3-0. Gasseau scored twice, the second into an empty net. He had 4 SOG and was a plus-2 with 18:35 TOI. Letourneau had zeroes across the board with 13:54 TOI. Jellvik missed this game.
Jake Schmaltz
North Dakota broke a three-game losing streak with a 7-3 victory over Minnesota-Duluth on Friday. Schmaltz contributed significantly to the win, recording three assists, two shots on goal, and a plus-one rating in 14 minutes and 44 seconds of ice time, though he won only three of twelve faceoffs. This marks a personal best for Schmaltz, as he achieved three points in a single game for the first time in his career.
The team secured their second consecutive victory against Minnesota-Duluth with a score of 4-1 on Saturday. Schmaltz finished the game with a plus-1 rating, didn’t have any shots on goal, and won 7 out of 15 faceoffs. His performance this season is rejuvenated, leading to his promotion to center the third line.
Beckett Hendrickson
Minnesota has kept up its strong performance, achieving a 3-2 victory over Wisconsin on Friday that brings their record to 8-1-0. Hendrickson has not registered a point in six games and finished the match with a minus-1 rating and 11:07 of ice time. However, he is not showing signs of frustration, and his effort level remains high.
On Saturday, they secured a 3-2 victory in the rematch, but this time it took overtime. Hendrickson was placed on the top line in an attempt to help him snap out of his slump; however, he did not earn any points and had only one shot on goal.
Ty Gallagher
Colorado secured its seventh consecutive win with a 4-3 overtime triumph against Arizona State on Friday. Gallagher is having a strong comeback in Colorado, contributing an assist in this match, finishing with a plus-1 rating, and recording two shots on goal. He logged a game-high 24 minutes and 45 seconds of ice time. Through seven games, Gallagher has achieved a production rate of one point per game, with two goals and five assists while playing on the top defensive pairing.
On Saturday, Colorado College secured another victory, beating Arizona State 3-1. Gallagher didn’t contribute to the scoring but had a plus-2 rating and logged the most time on ice among defensemen. The contrast between last season and this season is significant. We’ll see where it leads.
Chris Pelosi, Elliott Groenewold
Quinnipiac’s record fell to 3-4-0 after a 4-2 defeat against Dartmouth on Friday. Groenewold is starting to show his offensive skills with the team. He contributed with one assist, finished with a plus-1 rating, and recorded three shots on goal in 18:46 TOI while playing on the second defensive pair. In contrast, Chris Pelosi is experiencing a minor slump, failing to register a point in the last four games. He managed two shots on goal and won 3 out of 13 faceoffs during his 18:19 TOI.
On Saturday, they lost to Harvard by a score of 3-0. Groenewold played for 19 minutes and 22 seconds, recording 2 shots on goal, while Pelosi spent 18 minutes and 30 seconds on the ice, also getting 2 shots on goal and winning 8 out of 11 faceoffs. Quinnipiac has not started the season well, and they will need Pelosi to step up if they want to turn things around.
Ryan Walsh
Yale and Cornell officially ended in a tie, but Yale won the shootout 3-2 on Friday. Walsh assisted on the first goal of the match, making him the leading scorer for Cornell. When it was his turn to shoot in the shootout, Walsh needed to score to keep Cornell in the game, but he was unable to get the puck past the goalie.
On Saturday, Cornell defeated Brown 3-1 to remain undefeated. Walsh scored an empty net goal to seal the victory. He was 15-28 on the faceoff dot, had 3 SOG and was a plus-2 while leading all forwards with 21:49 TOI
Mason Langenbrunner
Harvard improved its record to 1-1-0 after securing a 4-3 victory against Princeton on Friday. Mason Langenbrunner played as the seventh defenseman, logging 10 minutes and 32 seconds of ice time. He did not score any points, had one shot on goal, and finished the game with a plus-1 rating.
On Saturday, they blanked Quinnipiac 3-0. Again, Langenbrunner was reduced to the role of seventh defenceman and skated just 11:23 TOI.
Jonathan Myrenberg
Remains on injured reserve.
Loke Johansson
On Thursday, the Bruins announced that they have signed Johansson to a 3-year Entry Level Contract with an AAV of $860,000. Because the Bruins signed him as an 18-year-old, his contract slides for two seasons whether he goes back to the QMJHL next season or the AHL. That means his contract will not start counting until the 2026-2027 season.
The Moncton Wildcats continue to run rampant after a 5-1 win over Acadie-Bathurst. Moncton has not lost a game in regulation since October 20 and are 14-2-2-0 on the season. Johansson, fresh off his new deal had a goal and an assist, and a plus-2 with 4 SOG.
On Sunday, Moncton faced Baie-Comeau and squeaked out a 2-1 victory. Johansson was a plus-1 with 2 SOG in a tight checking affair that saw 2 of the 3 goals come on the powerplay.
Kristian Kostadinski, Jonathan Morello, Cole Spicer
Dubuque lost a heart breaker to the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday by a score of 2-1. It was just their first loss in 7 games. Kostadinski finished a minus-1 with 2 SOG while Morello was even and also had 2 SOG.
In a surprising move (to me) Dubuque dropped Kostadinski to the bottom pair before Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Green Bay. Surprising because the team and player were doing well. He still managed to lead all players with 4 SOG. His ability to get shots through has been impressive. He finished the game a plus-1. Morello failed to register a point and was a plus-1 with 1 SOG.
Philip Svedeback
Providence College fell to 5-1-2 following a 3-2 shootout loss to Northeastern on Friday. Svedeback stopped 40 of 42 shots he faced for his best start of the season.
PC took the second game 6-5 in overtime on Saturday. It looked as though Providence was going to stick with some sort of goalie rotation as Svedeback was scheduled to be the backup in this one. After his partner had given up 3 goals on 9 shots, Svedeback was sprung into action less than 5 minutes into the second period. He stopped 22 of 24 shots the rest of the way to earn the victory.

On Friday, Providence defeated Bridgeport 3-2. After falling behind 1-0, Jordan Oesterle scored his third of the season just past the midway point of the second period to even the score. Just 1:04 later, Vinni Lettieri scored his sixth of the season to put Providence up to stay. At 1:28 of the third period, Jeffrey Viel notched the GWG with his second of the season. Riley Tufte, Georgii Merkulov, Marc McLaughlin and Patrick Brown with two had the assists. Michael DiPietro stopped 27 of 29 shots for the win and making a very strong case to be the number one netminder. Fabian Lysell missed the game with an injury.
In the rematch on Saturday, the game was intense and competitive until the Bruins scored four unanswered goals in the third period, leading to an 8-4 win. Brandon Bussi made 32 saves on 36 shots, achieving his first victory of the season. Lysell returned from an injury; although he didn’t score, he brought much-needed energy to the team at different times. John Farinacci led the way, scoring twice. Riley Duran and Ian Mitchell celebrated their first goals of the season. The scoring was completed by Merkulov, Tufte, Lettieri, and McLaughlin. Additionally, Merkulov, Ryan Mast, and Tyler Pitlick each provided two assists.
It was a weekend sweep for Providence as they beat Hartford 4-2 on Sunday. DiPietro was solid of not spectacular stopping 22 of 24 shots. Max Jones scored his first goal after being sent down. Tyler Pitlick, Marc McLaughlin and Patrick Brown also scored. Fabian Lysell added two assists.
Here’s a look at the Providence Bruins leaders. You will notice a column called “Benchrates” This is provided by our friends at Benchrates. Created by a retired hockey player, Benchrates has created an algorithm that computes values in real time. The value you see is the cap hit value they’ve earned this season to date. Give them a look and check out their site.
